The European Confederation of Woodworking Industries (CEI- Bois), the European Organisation of the Sawmill Industry (EOS) and the European Panel Federation (EPF), organized the 6th Club du Bois meeting under the chairwomanship of Mrs Maria Noichl, MEP, on 10 January at the European Parliament in Brussels.
The meeting gathered an important number of MEPs, industrials and experts from the Wood and Forest-based family. It was organized in a networking cocktail format and focused on the theme of Innovation in the Woodworking Industry.
The event was opened by a welcoming speech from MEP Mrs. Maria Noichl and followed by insightful presentations from Mr. Bert Vandenkendelaere, on the Innovative product approach, Mr Michael Proschek on Integrating innovation in the sawmill business and Mr Uwe Kies on the Digital Innovations in Woodworking Industries.
The speakers were able to illustrate with concrete examples some of many key innovations in the Wood Industry and their contribution to the circular economy, resource efficiency, sustainability but also increase of productivity, transparency, credibility and job creation.
The meeting ended with a fruitful question and answer session, which allowed the participants to exchange views on their experience, knowledge and practices.
