Considering that the pandemic brought the flooring industry to a near standstill in spring, members managed to overcome the recess rather quickly as global sales picked up speed and developed very positively over the rest of the year. Looking at the global markets, North America recorded the biggest increase in sales with + 22,4 % in comparison to 2019 and 49.1 million m\u00b2 sold. The main driver for the major increase in sales in North America &#8211; and the general recovery of global sales figures &#8211; was most likely the popularity of renovation and DIY projects during the pandemic.<a href=\"http:\/\/orsiad.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2-28.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32912\" src=\"http:\/\/orsiad.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2-28.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"571\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/orsiad.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2-28.jpg 571w, https:\/\/orsiad.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2-28-357x300.jpg 357w, https:\/\/orsiad.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2-28-500x420.jpg 500w, https:\/\/orsiad.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2-28-107x90.jpg 107w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 571px) 100vw, 571px\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/orsiad.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/6-15.jpg\"><br \/>\n<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/orsiad.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/5-16.jpg\"><br \/>\n<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/orsiad.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/4-17.jpg\"><br \/>\n<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/orsiad.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/3-22.jpg\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Another positive trend developed in <strong>Western Europe <\/strong>wheretotal sales reached 225.7 million m\u00b2 which represents an increase of + 3,6 % compared to 2019. As in the previous year, <strong>Germany<\/strong>remains the strongest market in Europe with sales of 52.7 million m\u00b2 (+ 6,1 % compared to 2019). Although both <strong>France<\/strong>and <strong>Great Britain<\/strong>sold 37.1 million m\u00b2 of flooring, the growth rate in Great Britain (+ 13,7 % compared to 2019) was much higher than in France (+ 1,6 % compared to 2019). Similar toGreat Britain, sales in the <strong>Netherlands<\/strong>increased by + 13,8 % to 21.1 million m\u00b2 of flooring sold. The only major country in Western Europe which experienced a decrease in sales was <strong>Spain<\/strong>(14.6 million m\u00b2 sold, &#8211; 12,8 %).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/orsiad.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/3-22.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32914\" src=\"http:\/\/orsiad.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/3-22.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"546\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/orsiad.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/3-22.jpg 546w, https:\/\/orsiad.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/3-22-341x300.jpg 341w, https:\/\/orsiad.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/3-22-478x420.jpg 478w, https:\/\/orsiad.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/3-22-102x90.jpg 102w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 546px) 100vw, 546px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sales in<strong>Eastern Europe<\/strong>remained stable in comparison to 2019 (- 0,2 %, 134.8 million m\u00b2 sold). <strong>Russia<\/strong>, the biggest market of the region, continued to grow in 2020 with 46.2 million m\u00b2 of flooring sold (+ 5,6 % compared to 2019). Sales in <strong>Poland<\/strong>shrank by &#8211; 6,6 % (29.0 million m\u00b2 sold) while the <strong>Ukraine<\/strong>was able to defend its place among the top three markets in Eastern Europe with a growth rate of + 1,1 % in comparison to the previous year (10.4 million m\u00b2 sold). Sales in <strong>Romania<\/strong>shrank by &#8211; 4,9 % (9.6 million m\u00b2 sold) while the market in <strong>Hungary<\/strong>grew by + 11,7 % (7.7 million m\u00b2 sold).<a href=\"http:\/\/orsiad.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/4-17.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32916\" src=\"http:\/\/orsiad.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/4-17.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"561\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/orsiad.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/4-17.jpg 561w, https:\/\/orsiad.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/4-17-351x300.jpg 351w, https:\/\/orsiad.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/4-17-491x420.jpg 491w, https:\/\/orsiad.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/4-17-105x90.jpg 105w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 561px) 100vw, 561px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In <strong>North America<\/strong>, 49.1 million m\u00b2 of flooring weresold which represents an increaseof 22,4 % in comparison to 2019. The <strong>US<\/strong>market experienced a major growth of + 28,1 % compared to 2019 (38.1 million m\u00b2 sold) while <strong>Canada<\/strong>recorded an increase in sales of + 6,1 % (11.0 million m\u00b2 sold).<a href=\"http:\/\/orsiad.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/5-16.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32918\" src=\"http:\/\/orsiad.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/5-16.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"570\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/orsiad.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/5-16.jpg 570w, https:\/\/orsiad.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/5-16-356x300.jpg 356w, https:\/\/orsiad.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/5-16-499x420.jpg 499w, https:\/\/orsiad.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/5-16-107x90.jpg 107w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 570px) 100vw, 570px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In all other regions, EPLF members reported decreases in sales. <strong>Asia<\/strong>recorded the greatest decrease with -11,9 % (25.1 million m\u00b2 sold).
