One of T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s rising export sectors, the furniture industry\u2014which posted a trade surplus of USD 3.7 billion in 2024\u2014has set its sights on the Chinese market.<\/p>\n

Following the high tariffs imposed by the United States on China, Chinese furniture giants are receptive to production partnerships in T\u00fcrkiye. Aegean exporters are heading to Shanghai and Foshan to seize this opportunity.<\/p>\n

To explore cooperation opportunities with China\u2014which alone accounts for 40% of global furniture production and 32% of exports\u2014observe economies of scale on site, and increase T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s exports to China, which reach USD 10 million annually, Aegean furniture exporters will stage visits to Shanghai and Foshan.<\/p>\n

Standing out in recent years with large-scale sectoral trade delegations akin to fairs, the Aegean Furniture, Paper and Forestry Products Exporters\u2019 Association will organize a \u201cChina URGE Sectoral Trade Delegation\u201d within the scope of its Aegean Furniture UR-GE Project, with 17 companies participating.<\/p>\n

\u201cFirst Overseas Step to China\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ali Fuat G\u00fcrle, Chairman of the Aegean Furniture, Paper and Forestry Products Exporters\u2019 Association, said they aim to cluster furniture exporters in the Aegean and strengthen the brand value of Turkish furniture.<\/p>\n

G\u00fcrle said, \u201cWithin the scope of the Aegean Furniture UR-GE Project, we are undertaking our first overseas marketing activity to China. Global furniture exports have reached USD 525 billion, and China\u2019s furniture exports alone stand at USD 190 billion. China alone accounts for 44% of global furniture production and 36% of exports. Due to the high tariffs imposed by the U.S. on China, we anticipate that Chinese manufacturers will be open to production partnerships in T\u00fcrkiye. We will explore this ground.\u201d<\/p>\n

Furniture China Fair and Foshan Visit<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the trip to China, the delegation will tour Furniture China, one of the world\u2019s largest furniture fairs. They will then conduct on-site inspections and company visits in Foshan, one of China\u2019s key furniture manufacturing hubs.<\/p>\n

Hikmet G\u00fcng\u00f6r, Vice Chairman of the Aegean Furniture, Paper and Forestry Products Exporters\u2019 Association, said, \u201cThis delegation will be eye-opening for Turkish furniture exporters. We will both get to know the Chinese market and evaluate production partnerships. Through the B2B meetings we will hold in China, we will also look to lay the groundwork for increasing T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s furniture exports to China.\u201d<\/p>\n
