Unprotected concrete elements deteriorate due to water and moisture ingress, mold develops, energy efficiency drops, and repair costs rise. Ahead of winter, roofs, terraces, balconies, parapets, and rainwater drainage details should be inspected thoroughly. Past \u201cminor\u201d leaks should not be ignored. Membranes must suit the building use and climate; whether bituminous or liquid polyurethane, correct material choice and quality workmanship are both critical.<\/p>\n

A Critical Investment for Long-Lived Buildings<\/strong><\/p>\n

Typical penetration points\u2014chimneys, ventilation outlets, and balcony junctions\u2014are the easiest water entry routes; correct flashing and detailing significantly reduce risk. Downpipes and drains must be sized for rising rainfall intensity. On terraces and roofs, slope and drainage should prevent ponding, which shortens membrane life and accelerates leaks. Plan waterproofing with thermal insulation to boost energy efficiency and prevent moisture and mold. After installation, maintain regularly: keep gutters and outlets clean and inspect membranes for cracks. In critical zones, acoustic or electronic leak detection can lower repair costs and improve safety.
