The recovery that started especially as of April being supported by high export figures in April and June is an important indicator for our sector. The 3.29 billion dollars in exports we reached in June enabled us to start the second half of the year with stronger morale.”

Aracı continued his remarks as follows:

“Since we took office in April, we have held 7 committee meetings concerning the subgroups of the chemical sector. Through these meetings, we are moving forward with a working approach that directly listens to the needs of our sector in the field and addresses problems through strong dialogue with our relevant Ministries. The close contact we have established with our public institutions, especially our Ministry of Trade and our Ministry of Industry and Technology, is of great importance in bringing the issues awaiting solutions in our sector to the agenda more quickly.”

Stating that the chemical sector plays a strategic role for the Turkish economy with its production power, market diversity and the input it provides to different areas of industry, Aracı noted that they are focusing on issues that will increase the competitiveness of exporters.

Chemical Technology Center Is Being Re-Evaluated

Aracı stated that the work related to the Chemical Technology Center, established by İKMİB with the aim of strengthening the technical capacity of the sector, also holds an important place on their agenda. He said they are comprehensively evaluating the current structure of the center.

Aracı made the following assessment on the issue:

“When we took office, we encountered a situation in which the existing feasibility, usage capacity and sustainability structure of the Chemical Technology Center needed to be re-evaluated. Therefore, we continue our efforts to transform the center into a structure that will provide real benefits to our sector, increase its visibility and strengthen its financial sustainability. In this process, we are moving forward in consultation with our Ministries, public institutions and universities.”

“The Record-Breaking Picture in the First Half Provides Strong Motivation for the Rest of the Year”

Pointing out that the chemical sector delivered a record first-half performance at a time when uncertainties in global trade continue, Aracı said they will continue to work in close contact with exporting companies in order to maintain the current momentum in the second half of the year.

Aracı concluded his assessment with the following words:

“The figures we have reached today once again reveal the production power of our sector, its export reflex and its position in global markets. In the coming period, our goal will be to make this momentum permanent, reduce the obstacles facing our exporters, continue our efforts without slowing down to attract foreign investments focused on exports to our country and further strengthen the strategic share of the chemical sector in Türkiye’s exports.

We also believe that the new steps announced by our President to support exporters’ access to financing will create important morale for our sector.
