FCNews has announced the winners of its inaugural FCNnovation Awards, a new initiative designed to recognize and highlight some of the most innovative new products and technologies in the flooring industry today.
These awards honor groundbreaking ideas and industry-changing concepts that can influence the way floors are manufactured, promoted and sold. Flooring products were judged based on design and performance (technology). A panel of industry expert judges reviewed applications in each product category based on specific criteria:
- Innovation distinctive from other products currently manufactured or processes currently in use
2. Benefit to the specialty retailer or consumer
3. Practicality
A requirement for consideration was that all entries were introduced in the calendar year 2021 and are currently available on the market. Several flooring distributors and retailers across the US gave their opinions on what stood out in terms of product innovation, and Välinge Flooring hardened wood flooring with Woodura® surface technology was a constant. “We felt there was strong support for Välinge Flooring, and they were deserving of the recognition,” says Ken Ryan, Senior Editor of Floor Covering News.
“We are grateful that our hardened wood flooring with Woodura® surface technology is recognized by one of the major magazines in the flooring industry. This is another proof of how significant this new technology is. The greatest reward, though, is the positive feedback we have received from people who have installed our flooring and can attest to how well it performs in real life. The Woodura technology gives several advantages versus traditional floor production – a harder and more durable wood floor, more efficient production that enables larger planks to be produced and also allows for a more sustainable usage of wood,” says Lennart Thålin, Region Manager – North & South America.
Välinge Flooring hardened wood products are available in 2 dimensions – XL 87×8 ¼ and XXL 94×10 3/4 and comes in 11 colors and species – seven white oak, two ash and two walnut. In the pipeline is also a brushed as well as a Class 33 collection, both will be shown at Surfaces in Las Vegas.
