1. Could you briefly introduce your brand and yourself in a few words?
Unilin Technologies is the leading licensor of innovative technologies in the building products industry, with a strong presence in the flooring category. The company has gained widespread recognition for introducing the widely used click systems: Uniclic, Unidrop and Unipush, establishing itself as a leader in technologies for wood, laminate and resilient flooring products.
The success of their locking systems is attributed to careful design, a solid reputation for quality, and the expertise of Unilin engineers. With a substantial portfolio of close to 4500 patents spanning 550 families, Unilin Technologies is actively involved in advancing manufacturing technologies, consistently introducing thoughtful product and process innovations.
In addition to its technological achievements, the company is dedicated to providing valuable technical services to licensees and distributors worldwide, fostering a culture of ongoing improvement and support. Acting as a collaborative hub within the industry, Unilin Technologies connects professionals through its extensive network, contributing to the evolution of flooring and related sectors.
2. What are your expectations from the sectoral trade fairs taking place until the end of the year?
Unilin Technologies expects that the trade fairs in the second half of 2025 will build on the positive mindset of the industry and strong attendance during shows earlier this year. At events like BAU Munich, The International Surface Event in Las Vegas and Domotex Asia / CHINAFLOOR, Unilin noticed a strong interest in the technical performance of locking systems and their role in tackling common industry challenges.

These interactions confirmed that visitors are not only looking for innovation but also want to understand the engineering behind it. During the trade shows earlier this year, Unilin Technologies showcased several new innovations. These included Unigrout, a resilient solution for ceramic-look flooring now available for click and dryback installation, Unizip for hassle-free one-panel herringbone flooring and the intelligent quality assurance technology ClickControl. The major highlight on the Unilin Technologies booth was the measurable impact of the company’s patented locking systems on superior product quality and installation efficiency, which resonated strongly with attendees.
3. What are your target markets? Could you list the problems you encounter in these markets?
Unilin Technologies is mainly active in the flooring industry, where it’s had a leading reputation for many years through its innovative locking systems: Uniclic, Unidrop, and Unipush. These technologies are valued across both DIY and professional segments for their speed of installation, ease of use, and long-term reliability.
In recent years, the SPC industry has been struggling with claims regarding edge damaging issues, height differences and gapping. The technical aspects that all Unilin locking systems have been designed with, prevent these exact issues. Since reliability and ease of installation have gained additional focus in the industry, having a dependable locking system has become even more vital. While design features such as décor and textures enhance the look and feel of a floor, they hold little value if the locking system fails. Unilin Technologies has built a solid reputation by creating the most reliable, innovative locking system that performs well in all conditions, making them the preferred choice for manufacturers, retailers, and consumers.

Beyond flooring, Unilin Technologies is also present in the panel and furniture industry with its Clicwall and Uniclic for Furniture solutions, but also the recently introduced technology Osiris, a breakthrough in wood waste recycling. Osiris is the first patented industrialized technology that enables large-scale recycling of waste fiberboards and laminate flooring. Traditionally, fiberboards at the end of their lifecycle have been destined for landfills or incineration due to the lack of viable recycling solutions. With Osiris, waste wood fibers can now be reintroduced into production alongside virgin wood fibers, creating new high-quality fiberboards or laminate floors. Osiris is not just about sustainability, it also makes economic sense. By reducing reliance on virgin wood fibers, manufacturers will realize substantial savings on wood cost. Moreover, Osiris also has a positive impact on electricity and heat consumption reducing these operational costs as well. This technology, validated by the impressive business case, has been thoroughly tested at Unilin’s Panels division plant in Bazeilles, France, where a Osiris 1.0 pilot line has been successfully implemented and validated since 2022. In 2024, Unilin Panels invested in a scaled-up production line which will be fully operational later in 2025.
4. Competition in the market is intense, and global developments are making it increasingly difficult to access new markets. What kind of additional support do you need to withstand this competition?
While the flooring industry is highly competitive and global dynamics continue to challenge the market, Unilin Technologies is able to rely on a strong reputation build over years of consistent performance. Unilin Technologies maintains their position as leader in the market by focussing on 3 main pillars: quality, innovation and service.
To uphold their reliable reputation, Unilin Technologies continues to reinvest in its existing technologies to maintain qualitative and reliable performances. At the same time, the company drives forward with new innovations by anticipating future needs and offering solutions that set new industry standards. Last but not least, Unilin strongly focusses on supporting their partners – both manufacturers and distributors – with the tools and expertise they need to succeed.
