On April 20-21, approximately 50 representatives from the European flooring industry gathered at Välinge’s R&D center in Viken Sweden to take part in the Multilayer Modular Flooring Association’s (MMFA) annual meeting.
“It was a true honor for Välinge to host such an important industry event and also a great opportunity to meet and share ideas with representatives from companies in the flooring industry from all over Europe”, said Välinge CEO Niclas Håkansson.
The first day started with a focus on technical issues such as test procedures, cleaning and maintenance as well as floor installations and ended with a guided tour in Välinge’s R&D center. The second day contained a presentation of industry sales statistics followed by two expert lectures; ”The European building market towards 2017” and ”New flooring solutions”, by Bjørn-Erik Øye from Prognesesenteret AS (Norway) and Välinge founder Darko Pervan respectively.
In his lecture, Darko Pervan presented a new solution to further improve Välinge’s wood powder technology by combining digital technology with water resistant core materials. When it comes to new alternative product constructions, moisture resistant cores with digitally decorated powder-based top surfaces with improved properties is the main focus of the Välinge Group development activities, said Darko Pervan.
When asked to summarize the event, MMFA Chairman Matthias Windmöller expressed his satisfaction: “We really appreciated the excellent meeting possibilities in Viken. It was really interesting for our members to see such an innovative company as Välinge and to hear Mr Pervan share his thoughts and new ideas on flooring.”
MMFA represents the leading producers of flooring in Europe and their suppliers. The Association was established in late October 2012 in Munich and focus on, among other things, research and development and introduction of standards.
