MultiProfil, the specialist for wrapped moldings has recently presented some very interesting product developments, of which some are even filed for a patent.
The company based in Verl has put a special focus on lightweight profiles, which convince with their chunky look, while they are very light and material saving. To reach this, relatively thin MDF boards are joined together in a mature production process. Afterwards they are wrapped. “When we apply an ABS edge, you can’t differentiate it from a solid MDF profile. However, the weight is up to 60% less” says Heinz Ebbinghaus, Managing Director of the company. Also in terms of functionality and strength, the lightweight profiles are not worse than the conventional profiles. This is because MultiProfil is able to insert solid MDF blocks into the profile, which allow the use of standard fittings and hinges.
