Välinge Strengthens R&D Capabilities With New Acoustic Testing Lab

Välinge Innovation recently expanded its research and development capabilities with new advanced acoustic testing equipment. This strengthens the company’s ability to support partners in evaluating and optimising the sound performance of flooring products incorporating Välinge technologies such as Liteback® and the acoustic coating technology, licensed through Välinge in partnership with Kneho-Lacke.

As requirements for sound insulation and acoustic comfort continue to increase across the building industry, the ability to accurately measure and optimise flooring performance is becoming increasingly important. Välinge’s new acoustic lab enables measurement of impact sound insulation in accordance with established industry standards, along with a range of additional acoustic evaluations.

“We see a growing demand for flooring solutions that contribute to quieter indoor environments,” says Anna Nilsson, Business Developer at Välinge Innovation. “With this new in-house capability, we can support both existing and potential partners in assessing how our technologies contribute to improved sound performance in their products.”

The acoustic coating technology, offered by Välinge through its partnership with Kneho-Lacke, delivers sound-dampening properties in wood-based flooring products.

For resilient flooring, Liteback enables panels to be made thicker without added weight, or lighter while maintaining the same thickness. It also contributes to reduced noise levels within rooms and between floors. By removing material from the back of each panel through customised grooves – material that can be reused in production – the technology reduces product weight and improves material efficiency, handling and transport.

With this addition to its R&D capabilities, Välinge continues to support its global network of partners with advanced tools and expertise, enabling the development of flooring solutions that combine performance, sustainability and acoustic comfort.
