- Industry associations to appear with a joint stand at BAU 2027
- Serial and Modular Construction to occupy Hall A2 as a key focus topic
- Participation of ADK Modulraum, Alho, and Kleusberg confirmed
The world’s leading trade fair for architecture, materials, and systems is continuing to drive forward the future-oriented topic of serial and modular construction. To this end, BAU is now cooperating with the concrete components industry, which will present itself with its own exhibition area at the fair. The organizational partner is the Association of Concrete and Precast Plants of Baden-Württemberg (FBF), together with the Bavarian Industrial Association for Building Materials, Stones, and Earth (BIV), under the umbrella of the initiative “Advantage Through Prefabrication.” At the upcoming BAU, which will take place in Munich from January 11 to 15, 2027, the Serial and Modular Construction section will occupy Hall A2. In addition to the exhibition area, the topic will also receive its own dedicated forum for the first time.
The shortage of affordable housing is one of the biggest challenges in Germany. Studies assume that more than 300,000 new homes are needed every year to meet demand. At the same time, rising construction costs, a shortage of skilled labor, and lengthy planning processes are slowing down new housing development.
Against this backdrop, serial and modular construction is becoming increasingly important. Industrial prefabrication and standardized planning can significantly shorten construction times and reduce costs. Already today, more than 10 percent of residential buildings in Germany are being constructed using prefabricated components, and the trend is rising.
Industry associations with a joint stand at BAU 2027
Following the successful premiere of the Serial and Modular Construction exhibition area at BAU 2025, Messe München is expanding this focus topic for future events. To this end, BAU and the concrete components industry agreed on a long-term cooperation during the BetonTage industry congress in Ulm, on the initiative of the Association of Concrete and Precast Plants of Baden-Württemberg and the Concrete Components Working Group within the Bavarian Industrial Association for Building Materials, Stones, and Earth.
Dr. Reinhard Pfeiffer, Managing Director of Messe München, emphasized the high importance of modular construction for both the industry and society: “Together with the industry associations, we will bring serial and modular construction even more strongly into the center of public attention. At a time of housing shortages and high construction costs, modular construction, with its innovative strength and efficiency, plays a decisive role that extends far beyond the construction sector.”
In turn, the Association of the Concrete and Precast Industry welcomed the cooperation with Messe München: “As the leading trade fair in the construction sector, BAU offers our member companies the ideal stage to demonstrate the future viability of serial and modular construction to a broad specialist audience and, beyond that, to present their own solutions along the entire value chain,” explained FBF Managing Director Dr. Ulrich Lotz and BIV Managing Director Diana Krüger.
Serial and Modular Construction to occupy Hall A2 as a key focus topic
At BAU 2027, the Serial and Modular Construction section will occupy Hall A2 with a total area of approximately 6,000 m². The associations of the concrete and precast industry will participate under the motto “Advantage Through Prefabrication” with a joint stand covering around 500 m².
Participation of ADK Modulraum, Alho, and Kleusberg confirmed
In addition, leading companies such as ADK Modulraum, Alho, the Federal Association of Building Systems, and Kleusberg have already confirmed their participation in BAU in Hall A2. Alongside the exhibition area, visitors will also have the opportunity to learn about new products and trends at the accompanying forum organized by the industry association.
