Nice Looking & Productive Office Furniture by Glimakra

Glimakra of Sweden has developed a unique product for modern work places. Now a new furniture by Glimakra proposes a compromise between open and closed office design. “Sabine” is an effective storage furniture system that is sound absorbing, sound reducing and room dividing.

Sabine storage furniture are available in four widths and four heights. The depth is always the same, 396 mm. The sound absorbing properties are obtained by optimized slots and a shell of moulded polyester felt with sound absorbing foam. The felt is available in anthracite, gray, white and green.

The pressed felt shells on the outside of the furniture interacts with the slotted body in a way that creates a smooth and good sound absorption in a wide frequency range from 125 Hz to 4000 Hz. The sound absorption is actually effective even in the really low frequencies, 63Hz. The acoustic solutions are optimized to create a product that has similar properties, regardless of the furniture’s content.

Body material can be painted MDF or dyed Valchromat in black, gray or green. Sabine has four different choices of legs. Round wooden legs in solid ash, brass or powder coated metal frame and design wheels in aluminium. The height of the legs are compatible to fit each other.

The need is well defined—open floor plans in general and activity-based workplaces in particular, need to be supplemented with specific products to achieve a functional acoustic environment,” the product’s designers Johan Kauppi and Bertil Harström said.

Sabine work places have fixed heights for sit or stand levels. The table top in white stained ashwood is held up by a sound absorbing beam that is connected to the side units. Work places can be repeated. Sockets for electricity, data, USB and HDMI are available on each work station. The sides can be equipped with either coat racks or shelves.

With Sabine, you can integrate the acoustics with the other needs in the work place and the result is a system of sound reducing furniture. The first members of the family are a number of independent storage furniture that also can be connected to elements. These are complemented by worktables with storage units that can be repeated.

Sabine has a modest design that can withstand repetition. Possibilities for variation are available in different colors and materials.
