European Parquet Flooring Market Finds Stability After 2024 Low

The European parquet flooring market showed signs of stabilisation in 2025 after hitting its lowest point in 2024, according to the latest update from the European Parquet Federation (FEP). The assessment was shared during FEP’s recent board of directors meeting, held alongside the DOMOTEX floor coverings exhibition in Germany, where preliminary market estimates were reviewed with representatives from member countries.

FEP said the sector had already undergone a sharp decline in consumption in 2023, followed by a further slight drop in 2024, which marked the market’s bottom. In 2025, conditions appeared to stabilise, although the market remained at a low level overall.

According to the federation, the year began on a relatively positive note, but market activity slowed again after the summer period. At the same time, certain cost pressures, particularly timber and energy, remained high.

FEP noted that the market still lacks visibility, making it difficult to forecast clear trends. Even so, the federation expects the sector to benefit from early signs of improvement in construction activity, as well as from the European Commission’s postponement and simplification of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).

The organisation also expects the definitive anti-dumping measures on multilayer wood flooring imports from China, introduced in mid-July 2025, to continue having a positive effect on the European parquet market.

However, FEP pointed out that some recent developments may be weakening the intended protective impact of those measures. These include lower prices for Chinese imports compared with the pre-investigation period and a growing influx of parquet products from several other countries. The federation said it is monitoring the situation closely and may raise the matter with the European Commission to seek further assessment of these import trends through new investigations.

More comprehensive parquet market data is expected to be presented during FEP’s 70th General Assembly and 50th Parquet Congress, which will take place on June 11-12 in Madrid.

FEP defines parquet wood flooring as either engineered or multi-layer flooring with a top wood layer thicker than 2.5 mm, with the remainder of the panel made of composite wood board or plywood, or as a solid wood flooring board.
